Welcome to your August Newsletter

Hello,

This is a mini edition of our bulletin as it’s holiday time.  This means we’ve got staff on holiday and, perhaps, we’ve not been chasing you for your stories and items for the bulletin. We’ll make sure there is plenty in the September issue!

Our August priorities are raising funds for a new minibus and getting lots of you involved in the Dementia Changemakers meeting. Please have a think about anyone or any business that might help with our fundraising.  And please try to come to our meeting in Fallowfield.  We realise that many of you can’t travel from the very north of Manchester or from Wythenshawe. Let us know if you’d like to get involved in giving your views, ideas and experiences and we’ll have a consultation at the Dementia Cafes in those areas.

And finally, a seaside trip! On Wednesday 13th September there will be a carers’ trip to Lytham St Annes.  Obviously you can bring your friend/relative who has dementia with you.  We’re confident that the sun will be shining and that the seafront and shops will have plenty to keep you entertained.  You can start to book your places on the coach via emailing Anna below. The trip costs £15pp.

The Big Give Campaign - Help us Secure a New Minibus!

Campaign Closing Date: 1st September 2023, 5 PM

We are thrilled to announce the next stage in our campaign to raise £58,000 for a new minibus!

We have teamed up with The Big Give, who will match-fund any pledge made to us in August and effectively double the impact of your generosity. The pledges can be made by individuals or by organisations, so if you run a business you can make a pledge from your business, or if you are employed you can ask your boss if they would be willing to pledge £100 or more toward our new minibus.

In the last 12 months alone, we have spent over £2,000 on our Ford Tourneo, and there are over £2,000 of repairs waiting to be done. The vehicle is no longer sustainable or fit for purpose. Every time it is goes in for repairs, members like John have their groups cancelled or their trips postponed. How can we keep smiles like this on John’s face if he can’t get out and about?

The deadline for pledges is fast approaching, so don’t miss this chance to be part of something truly impactful. Your pledge will go a long way in bringing positive change to the lives of people living with dementia.

How It Works:

  • You ask your employer to pledge £100 or more toward our campaign.

  • The pledges will be collected after 6th December 2023.

  • Exciting News! All pledges will be match-funded by The Big Give, effectively doubling the impact of your generosity.

Your support and dedication have always been the driving force behind our successes, and we know you will do what you can to support us.
